Blogging Secret has gained huge organic traffic for the keyword “ads theme”. When I was wonder where this traffic is come from, then I tried to search keyword “Ads theme” from google and found that my page is positioned in number 1 in first page of Google after Blogging Secret has gained PR4 recently. Before that, when Blogging Secret is PR3, my page is still positioned in first page of Google, but it is in number 3 or 4.
May be this is good enough to prove that the impact of page rank against the web site positioning. That’s the reason why many advertisers buy text links and paid reviews from high page rank sites and blogs. Can you see that?

Unfortunately PR is only one bit of the puzzle. How serious your competition and what anchored backlinks you’re getting count for a significant chuck too.
Of course Pagerank is important. But recently i discovered the SEO Plugin for Firefox that automatically shows PR for Google-Search results. It is amazing how often Pages with low PR rank high in the searchresults. Often they dont have a valid TITLE or KEYWORD Tag as well. Maybe the Google-Algorithm has become so complicated that strange results appear.
Another thought:
The Text of links to a website is very important for ranking for a special keyword. When you enter “click here” in Google-Search you find Adobe as the first result because many pages link to them with these words.
But “click here” of course does not appear on the adobe-page and they did not optimize for it.
With my own experience i can assure you that the effect is not due to PR increase.. It is just because you might have more backlinks than before with the anchor texts that you are targeting.
Well certainly if you are a PR 8 website then you are truly a powerhouse. But I can say that PR 0-3 is definitely nothing spectacular.
