I’m not high profile blogger and just blogging for more than one year, but my experience has been helped me to complete a survey for the journey of gaining page rank for all my blogs although I’m not very sure about how google page rank algorithm works.

I have about 10 blogs, several of blogger blogs (blogspot) and 6 domain blogs. Firstly, let me tell you why your blog is still unranked after several times of google page rank update. I have one private and secret blogger blog which has never get linked to any other blog or website because I don’t want to let people know about this blog. After several times of google page rank update, this blog is still show unranked instead of PR0. From here I can guess blog without any linking from other blog or website will never have page rank, your blog will be always showed page rank unranked.
How Easy Your Blog Can Get Page Rank 1, 2, or 3
I have several blogs with less than 10 linking from other blogs with page rank 1,2, or 3, so these blog have gained PR1 and PR2 after page rank is updated. That’s so easy to get PR1 or PR2, so don’t waste your money to buy domain name with PR1, 2, or 3 with high price. Be patience to wait for google page rank update, I believe that you can get PR1 easily without putting your hard work to build the link.
What about PR3 blog, how to gain PR3 for your blog, I’m not sure how many linking that you need if your blog want to gain PR3. Most probably more than 10 linking is better, the most important is that try to exchange your blog link with PR3 blog which relevant to your blog topic.
How Hard to Get Page Rank 4 and above.
Definitely very difficult if you have never putting effort to build your link! I read many blogs every day, I have checked their page rank for every blog that I read, I wonder how they can get PR4 and above.
I found that blogs with page rank 4 and over most probably received many reviews with link from other blogs. Of course these blogs get reviewed for free because they write good contents. CONTENT IS KING! If people love your content, they will link your blog or blog post automatically.
Some blogs create free and premium theme for people to download and then get the credit from people who use their free and premium theme. At the bottom of the free or premium theme, most of the times you can see the blog or website link from the original theme designer.
They are many other ways to gain page rank – buy link, buy review, comment dofollow blog, and etc. You heard it, right?
I’m just sharing about my experience of how to gain page rank for my blogs in this post. However, if you can share how to gain page rank for your blog, we are great to hear about it!

As per my experience without much backlink PR2 can be achieved, one of my site donot have much backlink but i provide backlink from my blog and it got PR of 2. so back link is more important in my opinion for PR

Content is king right, however I think you should also make an effort about social bookmarking and get visitors for your content.
So in this way people see your webpage, read it and if they find it useful they link to it.

i got PR1 immediately..don’t know how…but its getting difficult to gain PR2 for me
I had read about getting on page 1 on Google from a lot of sources. This is what I know about back links. Google calculate how many links your blog received from other websites. It is like a popularity check. If you had many links back to your website, it tell Google that your website are relevant and good.
About the content stuff, if your website had duplicate content (meaning the same exact articles or content from other people website) are posted to your website or blog, then, your website can be down graded. Your website can loose ranking. I had one website previously on page 1 on Google for certain keywords. The moment I started receiving articles from others, the ranking drop. This is because the same articles are posted every where else by the author.
That is why article site like Ezinearticles.com insisted to have your original version. To be safe, always write a summary of the content before posting the copy of the articles. Therefore, it still look unique and original.
Another important point is also your web hosting availability. My web hosting in previous 2 months had a service unavailable a few times. This also resulted the page rank to drop.

You need a lot of quality backlinks to acheive a page rank 4. The more backlinks the merrier. All you can do is keep link building and not worry about page rank so much. Google will take care of the rest!

It is hosted by Yahoo and shows I have 7 links and 134 inlinks so how does all these work because I don’t see the links on my site… Should these links appear on my site? To check your page rank you can download the Google tool bar just go to Google and type in Google tool bar then down load it, in the tool bar that will appear at the top of your page there will be a little bar that if the page has no rank will be white and the more the page has in terms of rank the bar will fill up green also if you hover over the bar it will tell you the page rank.
If you use fire fox then you can down load a more in-depth page rank checker from seobook.com
But if all you want to know is the page rank then stick with the internet explore Google tool bar.

Like you said, content is the king, i agree with that, but also it good to have good backlinks. For example, i have had a website, that got less then 10 backlinks, some content was unique, some was copied from different websites with links to them. One of backlinks was from good website, with big pagerank. So after few months mine website had PR 5. Also the traffic was not big, less then 100 users a day. After a half year page rank gone from 5 to 3, because no new content was added. So the conclusion is: you can get big PR if you have strong backlinks, but you will lose it, if you will not provide good content, that be interesting to the users.

if you are not aware of a proxy server that you need to use, then you have bugs. Malware and viruses set up their own proxys, and if you disable it, and run malware scans, you shoudl be alright.
