Do Expired Domain Name Lose Page Rank

Remember my previous post “Be chary of buying expired domain name with page rank” dated 2nd February 2008? You get it, right? I have promised that I will come back with you all about the latest update of page rank for kefim.com. Yes, at that time, the page rank of kefim.com is PR3, but its page rank is zero (0) now.

I believe that many of us will be very concern about the page rank of expired domain name after they bought, we will worry our page rank lose. Do you think expired domain name will lose page rank? Honestly, I’m not sure! But, after I done this survey, at least I know the page rank of expired domain name may be cannot preserve for so long.

For those who like to look for expired domain with page rank, be chary when you buy such domain name. I don’t want you to pay high amount to get domain name with high fake page rank, end up you get PR0 after google update the page rank.

I think they will lose PR if they are not bought immediately. You should get that domain back online.

Always do your homework. If there are good backlinks to the site then you should be able to keep it. freshdrop.net is a good site to look at for finding domains based on age, pr, backlinks etc.

I checked the site “kefim.com” and I guess it is more because there is not a single backlink to this domain . Maybe the previous owner or some else removed the backlink(s), so nothing is remaining – where should the pagerank come from ??

if you buy a expired domain name and put it on another server and change the structure of this site/domain when google does its next update you will lose the pagerank, i know this because it happened to one of my PR5 domains which i bought with page rank, it is now a PR0

  8. Dejan says:

I was buyed domain with PR5, and after some days of registering the domain name, it was dropped to PR0.

  9. sol says:

Thanks for the update. it’s very helping. yet there is still lots of talk that say expired domain keep it former Page Rank.

  10. I do think that expired domain names loses its page rank however some claims/ or there are circumstances that these expired domains can be renewed however in a lapse of time or some does not expire at all.

All in all, I agree that if you want to buy an expired domain with page rank, be careful, since you would’nt want it to suddenly lose its PR especially if it is high.

That is a helpful article. I buy expired domains all the time. And I always research the rankings a few ways by PR, Alexa Rank and Google Keyword search. Some of you may want to check out the expired domain toolbar at http://www.expiredtoolbar.com.

Pretty helpful for finding great names and includes a bulk alexa rank checker for searching a lot of names at once.

  14. Expired domains with pagerank will probable lose pagerank but they might still a lot of backlinks and that would help to get pagerank back

  15. rollingb says:

if a domain has pr but no backlinks, chances are PR is either bogus and will go to 0. If there are backlinks, then chances are the backlinks are not going anywhere. If you rebuild the domain and keep the content in the same niche, there is no reason why the backlinks will not help rebuild the pr. In addition, if there are backlinks, chances are the domain still may get some traffic. So not only will the PR be easier to build back up due to the backlinks, you may already have some traffic for you niche.

I have been doing research on this subject, and for four days I keep finding websites that are supposed to have what I am looking for, only to be disappointed with the lack of what I needed. I wish I would have located your web-site quicker! I had about 25% of what I was looking for and your website has that, and the rest of what I had to have to complete my research. Thank you and I will report back on how it goes!
