Many bloggers have reported the bugs for the recent released wordpress 2.5, but I cannot remember what they are. After I upgraded wordpress 2.5 for my gallery site named WordPress Theme Store (WPThemeStore.com), I have faced some problem after added the custom field.

Look at the screenshoot below, when I create new post for my gallery post, I have added two custom fields for the key of “url” and “Thumbnail”, after put in the title and category of this post, and then I publish it.

Do you know what happen after the post is published? I found that my thumbnail for my gallery post didn’t showed, then I try to look back the post and check back all the data that I have inserted for this post.

I found that one of the custom fields is disappeared as per screenshoot below, that’s custom field for “Thumbnail” key is disappeared, no wonder the thumbnail cannot showed.

At first, I don’t believe this is a bug, within giving up then I try another time for the new posting. Yes, the same problem is occurred.

Do you face the same problem like me? I don’t know, but I will try to contact wordpress for this bug.

So far, there is no other great plugins to show the popular posts on your blog besides Popular Contest plugin. Do you why I said so? This is because I have spent long hours just to search for popular posts plugin after my previous Popular Contest plugin cannot be activated due to the fatal error, finally there is no one can be compared with Popular Contest plugin.

I’m so regretted to install and activate a plugin named Automatic WordPress Upgrade yesterday, I think this is only one plugin caused my Popular Contest plugin cannot be activated, and it showed this error “Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”

I have tried hard to fix this problem with the help of this post, unfortunately I couldn’t make it although I have followed all the steps from this post.

I guess there will be a solution later, I can see some bloggers start to discuss about this matter in the forum. Hopefully this problem can be solved as soon as possible, otherwise I cannot post about April 2008 Popular Posts for this month, may be later month too.

Pink of October is two columns and widget ready free WordPress theme which is designed by StandardsForLife.com. Although this free theme is not my choice but overall it has been meet some blogger’s requirement of selecting a free theme. I personally think that the width of sidebar is too small, it will look better if this can be adjusted to about 200px. Anyway, I hope you like this theme and I strongly recommended. I remembered last time after I upgraded WordPress, some of my blog entries have weird characters as per below picture. Then I have take few minutes to edit some post entries in order to amend these weird characters, unfortunately I get bored and lazy to do so, then I just let it be.

Now I only know there are few methods which can help you to replace these weird characters very easily. Anyway, before you going to do anything, remember to backup your database first to avoid data lose.

Method 1: Use Search and Replace WordPress Plugin

This plugin allows you to search and replace texts across all your posts. As usual, download the plugin, install and active it and then you are ready to go.

Method 2: Using PhpMyAdmin under Your Hosting Control Panel

You have to login to your hosting control panel and click on PhpMyAdmin to proceed. If you are not so familiar how PhpMyAdmin works, be sure you back up the database first.

1. Open your database in PhpMyAdmin
2. Click on the SQL tab and use the following quote and paste to the text area

UPDATE wp_posts SET post_content = REPLACE (
post_content,
‘Item to replace here’,
‘Replacement text here’);

3. Click “Go” button
